Couponing 101 Tip: How to tell if you coupon doubles or not?

Did you know that the numbers to the left of the barcode actually mean something? Well it does..... It's the way you tell if a coupon can be/should be doubled or not. Sometimes a manufacturer's coupon will print with a  “Do Not Double” on it.

Now, the very first number on the barcode starting on the left is the key. Coupons that do not double will start with a number "9" like the one above.  If the barcode starts with a 5, it should be doubled automatically. Just a little note is that lots of blinkies start with the number 9 though.
